Kevin Costners megalomaniacal film dream gets a tough age rating

In recent years, Hollywood legend Kevin Costner has starred in the most successful US series of the moment. This refers to Yellowstone, where Costner plays the head of the Dutton family, which comes into conflict with surrounding communities because of their huge ranch.

Most recently there was the big Yellowstone dispute between Costner and series creator Taylor Sheridan, which led to the cancellation of the main series. But the star has more time for his megalomaniacal film epic Horizon. Now there is one Update to the project.

Kevin Costner’s new film epic gets an adult rating

According to Comic Book, the first part of Costner’s Horizon got a now R rating as an age rating. The reasons given were “Violence, some nudity and sexuality” specified. The project’s story revolves around settlers in the ancient American West and will span 15 years.

Costner plans four Horizon films, each with a running time of around 165 minutes, which should ultimately lead to an 11-hour epic. In comparison, even the Lord of the Rings trilogy seems small.

In addition to Costner himself, the cast of the project includes stars such as Jena Malone, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Thomas Haden Church, Michael Rooker and Angus MacFadyen.

What’s next for Yellowstone after the cancellation?

A larger universe has now emerged from the main series with Costner. In addition to two prequels (1883 and 1923) and a spin-off (Lawmen: Bass Reeves), two other planned spin-offs (6666 and 1944) were commissioned. In addition, Sheridan should have one without Costner Sequel series develop, for which Matthew McConaughey will probably take on the leading role.
