Kevin Costner praises this star more than Clint Eastwood Robert

As an actor and director, Kevin Costner is one of the biggest Hollywood stars ever. Unsurprisingly, he has appeared in front of the camera with many other big names such as Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery and Robert De Niro over the course of his career. Our international sister site Espinof has now picked up a more recent Costner interview, in which he particularly highlights another star.

Kevin Costner remembers formative set experience with Gene Hackman

As a guest on the Rich Eisen Show, Costner recently talked about how his experience with Gene Hackman on the set of Roger Donaldson’s 1987 action thriller No Way Out was particularly impressive:

The list of great actors I have had the pleasure of working with is very long, but I would say that Gene Hackman is probably the best actorthat I have ever worked with.

He also told a significant anecdote from the set. When Costner disagreed with a decision made by the director and even wanted to have Donaldson replaced, one of the people present asked Hackman what he would do. Costner said that Hackman would know exactly what to do because he was so good.

At the end of that day of shooting, Costner met Hackman in the parking lot and expected him to be angry with him. Hackman instead praised him and said, his heated behavior reminded him of his own earlier time as an actor.

When Tom begins a relationship with Susan Atwell (Sean Young), he does not know that she is also Bryce’s lover. Bryce has her murdered and the crime made to look like an accident. Finally, an incriminating photo leads Tom to be suspected of murdering Susan.

Kevin Costner returns to the cinema very soon

If you missed the Yellowstone star on the big screen, you don’t have to wait long. 22 August 2024 Horizon, the first of Costner’s epic new Western saga, is in German cinemas.

In addition to directing the story, which spans several decades and interconnected character fates, Costner also took on a role in front of the camera.
