Kevin Costner’s involvement in the hit western Yellowstone is coming to an end, including allowing him to create his own massive genre epic Horizon can get up and running. The first two parts await us in cinemas this year. The director and actor recently promoted his western epic at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, explaining how he envisions the cinematic viewing experience.
Kevin Costner wants to bring all 4 Horizon films to the cinema in one go
Kevin Costner’s Horizon series is structured into two two-part films. While the first two-parter will reach theaters this summer and fall, Costner is already planning the next two Horizon films, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He would like to see it released in cinemas in a few years concentrated viewing experience with all four Horizon films:
Maybe in a year and a half or two years the films will be 12 hours long [ins Kino] come.
The scripts for parts 3 and 4 should already be ready. However, whether these will actually be implemented depends on the success of the first two films on the big screen. With a budget of around 100 million US dollarsin which Costner also invested privately, the western epic represents a financial risk for Warner Bros. that first has to prove itself in the cinema.

Furthermore, the actor and filmmaker explained at CinemaCon that the history of the old American West of ambivalence be crossed:
When I think about the promise of America that was given to you if you could go there. If you were strong enough, if you were mean enough, if you were resourceful enough, if you were lucky enough, then you could take anything you wanted in America. That promise meant that we trampling on an entire population group, who has lived here for thousands of years. But that’s what happened in America… I don’t want to judge because I don’t want to look down on people’s resourcefulness.
Horizon will explore the history of the spread of the American Civil War and the settlement of the American West. In terms of time, the films should cover the four years of… Civil War from 1861 to 1865 include. Kevin Costner co-wrote the screenplay with author Jon Baird (The Explorers Guild).
Horizon will be on August 22, 2024 start in German cinemas. Horizon 2 will follow in this country a few months later November 7, 2024 in the cinemas.
