It is a moment of realization, the chairman explains. “Realize what our shared past is and acknowledge that painful past and then also think about what we are going to do towards the future. We see that there is more awareness. It is increasingly being talked about and published, but also in education more and more children are being taught about slavery. That is very important, because with that generation you can lay a very good foundation for that complete story of our history.”
