Kerttu Niskanen confused about her mood fallen Johanna Matintalo

Krista Pärmäkoski’s cheerful performance in the 10-kilometer time trial made Ville Nousiai happy. Johanna Matintalo crashed at the end of the track.

There was drama at the end of the women’s 10-kilometer traditional intermediate start race of the Ruka Suomen Cup, when the third-place finisher Johanna Matintalo fell during the descent of the Impilinna climb.

– Classically through the roof all around. I’ve never fallen there, it’s the first time.

However, Matintalo was able to ski to the finish line and was fourth in the race.

The athlete who won the sprint yesterday said that he injured his shoulder during a roller ski run in the summer.

– In June, I fell quite badly on the rollers in Vuokatti. The car was parked in an underpass on a roller coaster, I dodged it and braked, then I fell quite badly.

The shoulder injury did not bother me more during the training season. However, Matintalo fears that the trouble has recurred due to the most recent fall. He says that he immediately realized when he fell today that the same arm was twisted.

– I wouldn’t want to be offended by it a week before the World Cup. If it’s an old injury, of course it will be easier. It’s sensitive.

– Nothing incredibly dramatic, for sure, when you were able to ski all the way to the finish line. Let’s see today with the fyssars what the situation is in their opinion, Matintalo tearfully in the interview.

Before falling, Matintalo was fighting hard for third place Jasmi to Joensuu with. Joensuu’s third place was particularly significant.

– I don’t think I’ve ever been on the podium (in a normal race) when all the best in Finland are there. Of course, it’s sad that Johanna fell. The fact is that you have to stay upright, Joensuu reminded.

Pärmäkoski convinced the expert

He won the race Krista Pärmäkoski 15 seconds apart before Kerttu from Niska. Commentator Ville Nousiainen was convinced of how skiing in Pärmäkoski looked like.

Just a week ago, at the Olos Artillery Games, going to Pärmäkoski was a bit crowded.

– Krista’s skiing is good and looks cheerful. Cross-country skiing and branching are also good, Nousiainen stated during the race.

According to Pärmäkoski, the mood is still not the best possible.

– The tactic was to start hard and see how it lasts. The first lap went ok, but I would have liked to have crossed the finish line already at that point.

– I calmed down a bit for the long uphill section. I tried to fight until the end as hard as I can. I’m not satisfied yet, but it’s a good bet.

However, compared to Olos, Pärmäkoski has taken a leap forward. Even then, he had a heavy training load under him.

– Performances have been going well, so I know that fitness will come from there. I haven’t pressed the panic button yet, Pärmäkoski laughed.

Kerttu Niskanen, on the other hand, was not satisfied with his condition a week before the World Cup in Ruka.

– Miracles don’t happen in a week. At Olos, both races went badly. It was still difficult. This will continue and we hope that normal sharpness and relaxation will be found through the games. However, he is healthy, which is why he dares to take part in competitions.

A week ago, Niskanen opened his season in Olos and lost the traditional 10 kilometers to the German winner To Katharina Hennig 47.7 seconds. Niskanen was very disappointed with his race then.

Niskanen is still a little confused about his situation.

– Of course, I would have liked the beginning of the season to have been better. Sport is sport, you can’t help it. Everything is done as well as possible, but sometimes it just doesn’t go as you hope. Yes, at some point. Let’s see at what point.
