The 32-year-old runner was suspended in April 2019 due to testing positive for erythropoietin (EPO), after being provisionally suspended on February 3, 2018. Chief Inspector of Police Kiprop said he would his return to competition in the 800 meters at the Kenya Police Athletics Championships in Nairobi on April 6. His goal is to compete in the World Championships, which will take place from July 15 to 24 in Eugene, the Mecca of American athletics, in Oregon (northwest).
