More than 200 more police officers from Kenya have been sent to Haiti to support multinational forces in the fight against armed gangs. The matter was reported yesterday by the Ministry of the Interior of Kenya.
Kenya’s Ministry of Interior announced that a total of 217 police officers were sent as reinforcements. Last year, Kenya sent about 400 police officers to Haiti.
About a dozen countries have promised to send a total of more than 3,000 police officers as part of the security forces supported by the UN and the United States, which are in Haiti to stabilize the country’s security situation.
Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti in the Caribbean, is largely controlled by violent and heavily armed criminal groups.
