Kenny Bräck is one of Sweden’s biggest in motorsport.
After a fine career, he started working for the formula car manufacturer McLaren.
But Bräck reveals to Värmland’s Folkblad that he has now resigned.
With his victories in the 1998 Indycar Championship and the 1999 Indy 500, Kenny Bräck one of the absolute biggest ever in Swedish motorsport. After his career, he has chosen to avoid the limelight, but we will always remember his deeds.
Life after
With the victory in 1999, Bräck became the first Swede to win the Indy 500, and it took 23 years before a Swede won the competition again (Marcus Ericsson 2022). In addition to the Indy Racing League, Kenny also competed in CART (Champ Car World Series) and the International Race of Champions.

In 2003, Bräck was involved in a severe crash at Texas Motor Speedway. He needed to be taken to the hospital where the doctors were able to determine severe injuries, as well as blood clots. The then 37-year-old survived to everyone’s delight, and was even able to make a comeback to racing.
After his career, Kenny has, among other things, appeared in SVT’s “Mästarnas Mästare” and hosted the interview series “Kenny & Vänner” on TV4.
Bräck’s life change
Since 2009, Bräck has been based in London, England, and in recent years has commuted between the big city and Värmland, where he has a summer house. For eight years, the 57-year-old has worked as a test driver for the formula car manufacturer McLaren. But Kenny now reveals that he resigned.
– It was a matter of attitude. Sometimes you don’t get along. But I don’t want to go into detail about exactly what happened and what triggered my resignation, he says to Värmland’s Folkblad.

The job at McLaren has involved test driving sports cars, refining and optimizing the driving characteristics of cars, helping young and promising drivers, as well as developing cars for track racing for billionaires.
– Toys for the rich with F1 engines. V10s. But they must not be driven in competitions, says Bräck about the models that cost over 30 million to the local newspaper, before continuing:
– If you see a McLaren on the street in Stockholm, I have developed it. It takes a couple of years to develop a new model.
