This Monday, September 5, TF1 broadcast the first episode of its new series called Champion. The soap opera tells the story of Zack, a carpenter and boxing trainer. The viewer will also discover that this character can neither read nor write, while he will have to face many challenges after the death of his father.
A story that echoes that of Kendji Girac, particularly concerned with illiteracy. “I had reading and writing difficulties. I went to school, but with my gypsy family, we traveled a lot. We crossed all of France to go see the cousins. had a normal education. So I was quite behind the other students. Then I stopped studying at 14 to work with my father”, confides the singer to Entertainment TV.
Difficulties which also posed a problem for him during his participation in The Voice, in 2014. “I had trouble reading the lyrics of the songs on the prompters which were scrolling too quickly. I won, I made spelling mistakes when I wrote my texts or signed autographs for my fans. The French language is one of the most difficult in the world”, explains Kendji Girac to the same source. And to conclude, recounting having worked on his difficulties: “I won this fight and I want to share it with as many people as possible. I want to become the spokesperson for illiteracy in France.”

Born July 3, 1996 in Périgueux, Dordogne, Kendji Maillé, better known as Kendji Girac, made a name for himself in France by winning season 3 of The Voicein 2014. Since then, the young artist has had a string of successes: since Color Gitano until Last metro Passing by Andalusian Where ConmidoKendji Girac has released four albums, won three NRJ Music Awards and three Song of the Year trophies.

The young singer has, for the time being, never revealed the identity of his wife and mother of their little girl, Eva Alba, born at the end of January. One of the few times the artist has mentioned his companion was about childbirth. Guest of RFM on February 10, 2020, he confided: “When I saw my wife giving birth I said ‘ah I’m lucky not to go through that’. It was hard. is beautiful but it’s hard”, adding that it was “difficult to be a woman”.
