Kemissa Trecile queen of turntables in Haiti

This week, we welcome in our guest chair, a woman who has broken down stereotypes to shine as a DJ in the Haitian music industry. Kemissa Trécile, by her stage name DJ Kemissa, is queen of the turntables.

In Haiti, she is one of the few women who manage to carve out a place of choice in the music industry as a DJ. However, she studied law at the University of Versailles, in France, where she graduated as a specialist in commercial and community law. Kemissa Trécile, by her stage name DJ Kemissa, has distinguished herself in a sector dominated by men. She broke stereotypes erected in our society. She is also a human rights activist and environmental activist.

DJ Kemissa is an iconic DJ whose name will go down in history as one of the women who paved the way for many young women in this profession. This year, she wants to pull out all the stops. The FITISCH group she created offers a fusion of Afro-Caribbean culture with an emphasis on traditional Haitian rhythms.
