Kebert Bastien a concert and a new album in tribute

Haitian artist Kébert Bastien (KEB) gave a concert this Sunday, March 20, 2022, and announces the release of his new album in April 2022. My General Soleil, my Kamokenthe artist’s 5th album will be a vibrant tribute to the writer Jacques Stephen Alexis, whose birth this year marks the centenary.

The virtual concert “L’homme lumière”, held this Sunday, March 20, 2022, and produced by the French Institute in Haiti as part of the Quinzaine de la francophonie, is a taste of KEB’s new album dedicated to Jacques Stephen Alexis. Greatly influenced by the humanism of this Haitian indigenous writer, opponent of the Duvalier dictatorship, Kébert Bastien decided to set the works of Alexis to music. The 12 tracks of the album My General Soleil, my Kamoken are all excerpts from the works of the Haitian novelist, among others L’espace d’un cillement, Compère Général Soleil and The musician trees. This album available for pre-order, since 1er March 2022, therefore pays tribute to Alexis, whose 22 April 2022 brings back the hundredth anniversary of his birth.

This program is dedicated to the memory of the poet Jessica Nazaire (24 years old) who left us on Saturday March 12, 2022, succumbed to pneumonia.
