In the mystery thriller The Devil’s Advocate, Keanu Reeves, in the role of a successful lawyer, has no idea for a long time that the devil himself is hiding behind his new boss.

When the Matrix and John Wick star shot the film back in the 90s, the Market value of his co-star Al Pacino significantly higher than his own. That’s why Reeves waived a large part of his fee.

According to Collider, the Wall Street Journal reported in 2001 that Reeves waived several million dollars of his salaryto secure Pacino’s participation. The studio did not want to pay the high sum for the Heat lead actor, so Reeves gave up part of his payment.

The story of the film by director Taylor Hackford is based on the novel of the same name by Andrew Neiderman. Reeves plays the ambitious lawyer Kevin Lomax, who has won many cases in court. Thanks to this success, the chairman of an influential New York law firm hires him. However, Reeves’ protagonist has no idea that he is getting involved with the devil himself.
