Kazunori Yamauchi apologizes again and readjusts the credits

In full damage control since update 1.08 which clearly favored micro-transactions in Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital and more precisely its President, Kazunori Yamauchi, wishes to apologize to the players and its community. This is the second time in a week that the creator of the Gran Turismo series has had to intervene to put out the fire he started himself. There was indeed this impossibility of launching the game following servers which were voluntarily cut, revealing that the solo mode imposed a compulsory connection, then it was the stampede with changes in the business model through adjustments economics that pushed players to buy the cars with real money. The anger was great and the review bombing violent, so much so that the game’s user rating displays a 1.5/10 on Metacritic, arguably one of the worst ratings in video game history. To calm the enthusiasm of the players, a “commercial gesture” is offered with a donation of 1 million credits to all players who connect to Gran Turismo 7 before Monday, April 25, 2022.

Thank you for your unwavering support and your constant feedback on Gran Turismo 7, you do not speak in a vacuum. I would like to apologize for the frustration and confusion that was caused by our update last week, which not only crashed the servers but also resulted in adjustments to the in-game economy that were done without giving a clear explanation to our community.

We know this isn’t the Gran Turismo gaming experience you’ve come to expect, and we’ll be extending a gesture of goodwill to you in the form of a 1 Million Cr. Unpurchased Credits Pack, available for all players who have been affected. You will find these credits in your accounts shortly. Be sure to log into the game before April 25 to claim your credits.

Gran Turismo 7

We learn that a new corrective patch is being produced and will be deployed next April to rebalance this rewards system which clearly does not work in favor of the players. The number of events will also be increased and the promise is to no longer frustrate players. Obviously, we are waiting to see what the real measures will be once the patch is available before declaring victory. In the meantime, here is the list of promises displayed on this day of redemption:

Updates that will go into effect at the beginning of April:

– Increased rewards in the events of the second half of Worlds Circuits by around 100% on average.
– Added high rewards for completing Circuit Experience with All Gold/All Bronze results.
– Increased rewards in Online Races.
– Inclusion of a total of 8 new one-hour Endurance Race events in Missions. These events will also give greater rewards.
– Increased the maximum limit of unpurchased credits in players’ wallets by 20M Cr. at 100M Cr.
– Increased amount of Used and Legend cars available at all times.
