Kaywan helped injured protesters in Iran – jailed

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Paramedic Kaywan Samadi was detained for 21 days before being released pending trial. In connection with that, he fled to Iraq.

– A friend of mine was sentenced to death. That’s why I fled Iran, he tells SVT Nyheter.

In northern Iraq, SVT’s reporter also met Aras, who had managed to cross the border from Iran to seek treatment after being injured in a demonstration. The protests in Iran have decreased for some time, but Aras believes they will pick up again in the future.

– Now it’s like the charcoal bed on a grill. When you blow on it, the flames flare up again. Therefore, I think the protests will return.

“Shot in the head”

The reason why ambulance paramedic Kaywan Samadi was arrested was that he, like many other paramedics, helped protesters injured by the country’s security forces.

– I saw protesters who were shot in the chest and torso. I have also seen three people who were shot in the head, but we could not save them.

Hear Kaywan Samadi talk about his escape in the clip above.
