A televised coronation concert will be held at Windsor Castle on May 7 – the day after Charles is officially crowned king.
But so far it has mainly been reported about artists who will not participate. Among others, Adele, Elton John, Harry Styles and the Spice Girls are said to have turned it down.
The coronation concert, with 20,000 people in the audience, will be broadcast on television, radio and online, and according to the BBC, additional artists will be announced shortly.
Despite the fact that the coronation is the first in the country since 1953, interest in it is described as stark. According to a Yougov poll conducted Friday, 64 percent of just over 3,000 respondents said they didn’t care much or not at all about the coronation. 34 percent answered that they cared a lot or a lot.
Still, just under half of those surveyed said they were likely to watch or participate in the celebration.
Charles’ youngest son Prince Harry will attend, despite criticism of the royal family since moving to the US in 2020. However, his wife Meghan will stay in California with the couple’s two children.
