Kattis Ahlström about new Heir unknown: “Miss Niklas a lot”

Kattis Ahlstrom about new Heir unknown Miss Niklas a lot

It was in 2017 that “Heir Unknown” saw the light of day for the first time. The SVT program was based on the fact that Swedish authorities do not manage to reach the heirs of the hundreds of people who die alone in Sweden every year.

The viewers then had to follow how Kattis Ahlström and Niklas Källner, through a solid research work, traveled the world to find distant relatives and unknown heirs of people who passed away alone. And it turned out to be trips that offered dramatic family stories, emotional meetings and strong destinies – something that also went home outside on the TV sofas.

During the four seasons broadcast between 2017 and 2020, it attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers and the program was twice nominated for “Lifestyle Program of the Year” at the Kristallen gala.

– Many have reached out to us and many have written and told us that the series meant a lot to them. They have appreciated the mixture of history and stories of human destinies. There are also several viewers who told us that they looked up relatives they had lost contact with when they realized that life is short and that after all, close relationships are often the most important thing we have, said Ahlström in a press release when, in 2018, it became clear that there would be a second season.

But despite the successes, it was clear in 2021 that “Heir Unknown” would be put on hold. According to the then program director Christina Hill at SVT, the decision was made because the program was “an incredibly demanding project”.

The year before that, the corona pandemic also hit, which made the conditions even more challenging.

– The last season was very affected by the pandemic, we almost couldn’t travel at all. So it’s clear that it has had an impact. Now it went well anyway, we found some creative solutions, Hill added The evening paper when.

But in the spring of 2024 came the news all “Heir Unknown” viewers were waiting for. The program would once again take its place in the television schedule and on August 29 it was the premiere day on SVT.

The first episode attracted 792,000 viewers, making the show the second most watched that week after “Fråga Lund” which was seen linearly by 942,000 viewers.

But the fifth season of “Heir Unknown” is a little different compared to previous editions of the show. Kattis Ahlström got a new couple horse then Mark Levengood replaced Niklas Källner.

“Now that the program is coming back after a break of a few years, we have chosen to renew several things, including the host duo, to update both form and tonality,” SVT’s press service wrote about the decision to Entertainment life.

And it was a tough Levengood who did not hesitate to say “yes” to shouldering the role of presenter.

— I thought I wanted something new in my life, and 40 minutes later they called and asked. I wanted to work with Kattis, and think the program is very good, so I was very happy to be asked, he told TT.

Levengood has previously hosted everything from “Melodifestivalen” and “Vi i femman” to guiding the Swedish people through the crown princess Victoria and prince Daniels royal wedding in 2010.

But what has it really been like for Kattis Ahlström, who is in his fifth season of “Heir Unknown”, to no longer work with Niklas Källner and instead have Mark Levengood by his side? News24 the seasoned host asked just that.

– I miss Niklas very much, of course we have a lot of fun together when we work and at the same time I think that Mark was very skilled at quickly putting his own stamp on his stories and we also have a nice chemistry that I hope to build on in the future, states she continues:

– But I don’t want to compare them because they are so skilled in their very own personal but also different ways and it is a joy to work with them both.
