The alarm call came on a snowy January morning just over a week ago, on January 23.

The 65-year-old man called himself and said that he had killed his two daughters and his grandson, and now wanted to take his own life. After a couple of minutes he stopped answering.

When the police arrived thirteen minutes later at the white house in the sparsely populated municipality of Nes, a few miles from the Swedish border, it was full of smoke.

There were four dead people in the house – all shot. Next to the 65-year-old man was his hunting weapon and mobile phone.

The police colleagues saw the name: “Shock”

It became known early on that one of the women killed was a police officer.

Katrine Nordli Korslund, 30, usually worked at the police station in Eidsvoll. She and her partner, also a police officer, had moved back to Katrine’s hometown. Right now, she was on maternity leave with her little daughter Emily, who would turn one on March 1.

On January 23, she and her daughter visited the childhood home in Skogbygda where Katrine’s parents still lived.

On the same day, the colleagues sat at the police station and followed developments after the alarm about a “serious incident” – in Skogbygda.

On the screen in the meeting room appeared a list of possible people involved.

    – When we saw which names could be involved, we were just shocked. It was surreal, even though we didn’t know what had happened, police section chief Håvar Bue tells VG.

The police station has been left in mourning and missing a valued colleague.

    – It is a small station and she was a girl who contributed a lot to the working environment. She took it very seriously, decorating and organizing and making sure everyone had a good time.

    “Most beautiful people on earth”

Little sister Victoria Nordli Korslund, 24, stayed at home with her parents, in a separate part of the house. She worked as a nurse and loved her dog Iza, a Shetland sheepdog with whom she trained agility.

    – I will remember Victoria precisely for the wonderful girl she was. She was there throughout my entire upbringing. A bubbly girl who radiated kindness, says a friend to VG.

They talked on Snapchat a few days before the murder. Then everything seemed to be as usual.

    – She and her sister had the most beautiful smiles imaginable. They were the most beautiful people on earth, inside and out.

The partner was not at home

Work continues to clarify what actually happened in the White House on January 23.

The police are surveying the dead perpetrator’s background, including his health history, and are trying to establish a motive.

He was written together with his youngest daughter and partner, mother of the two murdered daughters.

The partner was not at home when the murders took place.
