Kati Roivas debuts in a historic fashion at the World
Kati Roivas starts her first World Cup race – at Holmenkollen

Last Sunday, Kati Roivas made Finnish skiing history when she finished third in the prestigious Vasaloppet. Roivas, who has performed brilliant skiing in the Ski Classic series this season, starts today in his first World Cup competition – and right away in Holmenkollen, in a 50 kilometer race.

– It’s exciting. Now we are in the discomfort zone, but let’s do our best, Roivas said on Friday.

Roivas is used to slightly different terrains in long-distance races than what Holmenkollen has to offer. In Ski Classic, in the traditional competitions, you also advance mainly by straight push, so Roivas hasn’t really practiced shift skiing.

– I do some shift skiing, but the power is quite low. There will be so much more of that tasuri, he laughed.

Roiva is most excited about how he has recovered from Vasaloppet. Success in the Ski Classic shows that he is in good shape.

– Now the parties are in full swing, so it’s a completely different story. It is difficult to estimate what it is enough for. I have no idea what the pace is like here, so I have to go with the situation.

According to Roivansen, how the skiing starts affects his tactics. He does not know how to tell himself an investment goal.

– As long as you feel like you have given your all and distributed your strength correctly, he stated.

Roiva was interviewed by Laura Arffman.
