Karsten Warholm’s honest words about the punishment after the loss to Armand Duplantis – now forced to the most humiliating: “It’s absolutely terrible”

Armand Duplantis broke Karsten Warholm.
Now the Norwegian is forced to a penalty.
– It is absolutely terrible, he says.

The eyes of the athletics world were all on Armand Duplantis and Karsten Warholm on Wednesday evening. In connection with this week’s Diamond League competition in Zurich, the two superstars had finally agreed to carry out the competition that had been talked about for so long.

“Absolutely terrible”

Both Duplantis and Warholm belong to the absolute top of athletics, with Mondo as the best pole vaulter of all time, and Warholm as the best of all time in the 400 hurdles. Now, after a bit of banter during training, they had decided to compete in the 100 meters – and there was much more than just honor at stake during the competition.

Before the race, Duplantis and Warholm had agreed that the loser needs to serve a penalty in Thursday’s Diamond League contest. And since Mondo won the race, it now means that Warholm will compete today – in Swedish clothing.

– It will be terrible. Absolutely appalling, says Warholm to TV2.

The words about the punishment

Afterwards, however, Karsten Warholm could do nothing but praise his opponent.

– I have to give him credit. He beat me, it’s that simple. It was a good race, and I have to congratulate him, says Warholm while Duplantis presents him with the Swedish national team uniform, which will therefore be on Warholm on Thursday.

Armand Duplantis may not have been completely satisfied with how he completed the race, but was nevertheless satisfied that he succeeded in the most important thing – to win.

– I can’t complain. I felt good. I had no idea what was going to happen. It got a little tight in the last 20 meters, but I just had to hold on, Mondo said.
