A preliminary investigation has been launched against four doctors at the Karolinska University Hospital in Region Stockholm who are suspected of bribery and disloyalty to the principal, according to Sweden’s Radio Ekot.

The preliminary investigation has begun since Karolinska University Hospital reported the doctors to the police. Through their own company, they have sold IT services to the hospital for almost SEK 50 million since 2013. At the same time, one of the doctors has been Karolinska’s reference on invoices to the company.

Money has also been paid to the company in the last two years, even though, according to the police report, there was no agreement. SEK 20 million must have been paid out for technical development that the hospital claims not to have ordered.

Two of the doctors that Ekot spoke to refute the accusations and claim that the police report is part of a smear campaign.
