New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou said on Monday Harry Kane was “fully committed” to the north London club as speculation over the England captain’s future intensifies. The 29-year-old striker, whose contract with Spurs will end in June 2024, is notably the target of Bayern Munich, in search of a world-class center forward since the departure of the Pole Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona there is a year. Faced with the uncertainties surrounding Kane’s future as the new Premier League season approaches, Postecoglou, appointed in June at the head of Spurs, assured that his first exchanges with the England international had been instructive. “I had a good chat with Harry…nothing upsetting or decisive,” he said ahead of Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against West Ham in Perth, Australia on Tuesday. “Harry and I are in complete agreement that we want the team to perform well this year,” added the former Australia manager. “He is here and as long as he is here, he is totally committed to what we are doing,” assured Ange Postecoglou. Bayern Munich honorary chairman Uli Hoeness told reporters on Saturday that Kane had “decided” to join the reigning Bundesliga champions. “No one told me about Munich,” Postecoglou said. If other clubs want to talk about our players under contract, it’s more of a problem for them than for us”. “There are a lot of people who know Harry better than me, but he won’t be impressed by anything,” concluded the 57-year-old technician, before the start of the pre-season tour which will lead the Spurs in Bangkok and Singapore, after Perth.
