Journey to the end of the night, journey to the end of hell: the film we are going to talk about this Saturday could have these two subtitles as it explores the depths of the human soul to end up discovering there, perhaps to be, a ray of light. We follow a father (Hassan) and his son (Issam), two poor people from Casablanca, charged with a dirty job, getting rid of a corpse, which will take them until dawn. This is the first feature film, noticed at the last Cannes festival where it won the jury prize in the Un Certain regard section, is signed by Moroccan director Kamal Lazraq. This film confirms the excellent form of Moroccan cinema this year and shows that you can mix neo-realism and whodunnit with a touch of fantasy and black irony.
On the bill of our cinema also this Saturday, report in Gagny with a cinema workshop organized on the occasion of the 4th edition of Film the future and a focus on the second season of the comedy web series Afropoliticalbroadcast on TV5 Monde and TV5 Afrique.
