Kalmar measured the year’s hottest temperature so far

Wednesday was very hot.
In Kalmar, a whopping 26.6 degrees was measured, which is the highest temperature of the year so far – but now it’s turning around again.

The weather will be significantly cooler in the future, says TV4 Nyhetern meteorologist Peter Kondrup.

The Swedish spring ended with real high summer heat, but with June just around the corner, summer looks set to take a setback.

– We have had a new high for the year and it was at the last second, you could say, because tomorrow a cold front will descend over the country, so the weather will be significantly cooler in the future, says Peter Kondrup.

The cold front hits a large part of the country already in the morning, when in the north it can even mean elements of snow. The Swedes in southern Sweden will get to keep their warm weather – at least for a while.

– We can probably get between 20 and 25 degrees in parts of Skåne, in the middle of the day. Before the temperature later in the day will go down quite quickly when the front passes.

The meteorologist: Good marathon weather

Despite the colder weather, SMHI continues to warn of fires in forest and land, mainly in southern and central Sweden.

The cooler weather does not only mean negative news, at least not for the thousands who will run the Stockholm Marathon on Saturday.

– I think it’s pretty good conditions to run for so long. You probably won’t get too hot, it’s about 16 degrees in Stockholm and quite cloudy too. The sun won’t shine either, says Peter Kondrup and continues:

– I would think that it will be quite adequate, I say, who doesn’t really know what it’s like to run a marathon because I’ve never tried it.
