Kalle Rovanperä will also compete next season with Toyota in the World Rally Championship. Elfyn Evans, Sebastien Ogier and Takamoto Katsuta are also competing for Toyota.

Toyota released its drivers competing in the World Rally Championship next season. Winner of two previous world championships Kalle Rovanperä continues in the team and will compete in the World Rally Championship next season as well. However, Rovanperä will only drive half of the World Rally Championship races next season. Rovanperä explained the background of his decision with a video he published on his social media.

– There are many reasons behind the decision. But the biggest of them is that I’ve been rallying for 15 years now, which is quite a long time for me, 23-year-old Rovanperä says.

However, Suomalaištahti signed a multi-year contract with Toyota. In addition to Rovanperä, Toyota will compete next season Elfyn Evans, Sebastien Ogier mixed Takamoto Katsuta.

Rovanperä said in the video that the previous seasons in the World Rally Championship have taken their toll.

– The past rally seasons have been great, but also very exhausting both mentally and physically. Full-time rally driving around the world and fighting for World Championship titles have taken a lot of time and energy from me, Rovanperä reveals in the video.

– That’s why I feel that next year it’s good for me to drive only half the WRC season, so that I can recharge my batteries and refresh my mind. After that, I’m ready to ride full WC seasons again and fight for the world championships at full power, says Rovanperä.

Rovanperä and Halttunen will decide on the rallies to be driven together with Toyota. Rovanperä says in the video that he plans to participate in drifting competitions and possibly other motorsport events.

The World Rally Championship season that ended in Japan over the weekend ended with Toyota’s celebration. Elfyn Evans, Sebastien Ogier and Rovanperä celebrate the triple victory. In addition to Rovanperä’s drivers’ championship, Toyota also won the teams’ World Series.

The World Rally Championship starts next year with the traditional Monte Carlo competition on the 25th-28th. January. The Japanese competition ends the season on November 21-24. day. The season includes a total of 13 competitions.
