The Alpine Skiing World Championships will be held in Toni Nieminen’s successful landscapes in Courchevel. According to Kalle Palander, Toni Nieminen’s Olympic medals were a big factor in his career.
The Alpine Skiing World Championships are underway in Courchevel, France. However, few may remember or know that Finnish Olympic history has been seen in the landscape more than 30 years ago.
At the 1992 Albertville Olympics, the ski jumping competitions were held in Courchevel. In those games, only a 16-year-old became a Finnish sports hero Toni Nieminen.
Nieminen took three Olympic medals from the Games: Gold from Suurmäki and the team competition, and bronze from the normal mountain.
Sports expert Kalle Palander decided to call Toni Niemis about the world championship scenery of alpine skiing. Palander is two years younger than Niemi.
– I must have never told you this. We’re friends from the same era, but you rose to the top so much younger than me. I was tough Matti Nykänen -fan. You came after that. One big factor in my career was that the dude won the gold, Palander revealed to Niemi in a video call.
Palander raised his fist.
– I’m sure I’m not the only top athlete from that era to whom you added enthusiasm! Thanks for that! Palander impaled.
– Thank yourself. We were both quite naughty boys then. I was 16 years old and you a little younger. But, if I’ve even been able to encourage you to leave Tornio to conquer the world, I guess I can walk with my jacket open, that I’ve been able to jesus Palander.
Palander came to the attention of the general public when he won the World Championship gold in slalom in the USA in Vail, seven years after Nieminen’s achievements.
