The withdrawal of Russian troops from Lyman, an important Ukrainian city, drew criticism from the pro-wars. Perhaps the harshest of these criticisms came from the leader of Chechnya and one of the main supporters of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ramazan Kadyrov.
PUBLISHED A STRONG REVIEW
Kadyrov found the military supervision of General Alexander Lapin, the Commander of the Russian Central Region, who was working in the region insufficient, and argued that the reason for the surrender of the Ukrainian city of Lyman was Lapin’s failure. In his message, Kadyrov said, “If it were up to me, I would make Lapin a soldier, take away all his awards, give him a rifle to wash his shame with blood and send him to the front.”
FALSE NEWS SAID
After harsh criticism, it was announced that Lapin, who was accused of handing over Lyman, was dismissed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Hours after his dismissal, Ukrainian news site Channel 24 reported that Lapin’s body was found in the Moscow River, which runs through western Russia. However, a correction was made after it was announced that it was false news.
FATE IS UNKNOWN
Earlier on Saturday, Russian local media reported that a source in the Ministry of Defense said that Lapin had taken a three-week vacation. “He will fly to the hospital early next week, recover, then rest for another week and return to duty,” the source announced. The general’s fate remains a mystery.
