In the ice hockey NHL, the New York Rangers suffered a defeat on their home ice in the match played against the Detroit Red Wings. The visitors won the match that went into overtime with 3–2 goals.
Rangers’ Finnish striker Kaapo Kako scored the opening goal of the match in the first period. The second got the loose puck in front of the goal and finished beautifully with a wrist shot for his third goal of the season. Assist points from Kako’s goal were collected by the attacker Chris Kreider and defender Jacob Trouba.
