Jymy Jussit was fired from Superpesis and now the story ends

The Tax Administration has filed for bankruptcy of Seinäjoki Jymy-Jussit. The legend of the club is ready except for the last touches.

Seinäjoen Jymy-Jussit Oy, kicked out of the men’s Superpesis in the middle of the hottest baseball summer, has filed for bankruptcy.

The Tax Administration has submitted a bankruptcy petition to the District Court of Southern Ostrobothnia last Friday. He was the first to tell about it Evening newspaper.

There is nothing surprising in the bankruptcy application in itself.

Jymy-Jusse was shown the door from Superpesis due to financial difficulties. The team learned about it dramatically in August in the middle of a game trip, when the nose of the bus pointed towards the playoff qualifier in Kitee.

Immediately after the loss of the league place, Jymy-Jussie’s club management openly stated that the club does not have the conditions to continue its activities.

Chairman of the board of Jymy-Jussie Ossi Viljanen has now been working on a weekly basis to bring the club down.

– Here, a fairly small team has worked brutally to get things to the point where the lid can be closed.

However, it will still be weeks before we get there.

Downhill is a collaboration

According to Viljanen, everyone who has participated in Jymy-Jussey has had to do something to prevent the downfall.

– The players have their own things to do, the club has its own. No one can do this alone.

What saddens him the most are the financial losses and worries caused to those outside the club.

– Inevitably, someone will be left without something here. I’m really sorry about that. We can’t do anything about it, no matter how much we want to.

Viljanen does not say what kind of sums are involved.

– Every euro is too much. Here, for years, we have tried to work for the vitality of the entire region and region – and then it happens like this. Sad as hell.

Chairman of the board Viljanen says that the last few months have looked like the worst side of sports.

– This is not nice at any level, there are no winners here. There is no word or emotion to describe how it feels. In such a situation, one experiences a feeling of some kind of failure. A huge disappointment.

It is comforting that junior activities will not fall with it.

– Fortunately, we are only talking about the fate of the national team. If you can find solace in this, I will grant it to myself.

Concern for the whole of Finnish sports

On a more general level, Viljase is very concerned about Finnish top sports as a whole.

– At the moment, the media is full of the fact that many people are doing poorly. I wonder a lot who wants to bear the responsibility in the future.

Viljanen says that there is room for discussion as to whether there is room and need for elite sports in Finland.

– The role of sports is to be a community’s holding power factor. I personally consider every club that organizes activities at any level to be important. Their value is often only seen when it is already too late.

Jymy-Jussit was founded in 2012, when Nurmon’s Jymy and Seinäjoki’s Maila-Jussit merged. Maila-Jussit will continue next season in Ykköspesis, Jymy Suomensarja.

Viljanen hopes that factors will be found for the rise of the Seinäjoki nest.

– I have personally sacrificed a lot for this. Everything I have done from my heart to this area and baseball. Now it’s the turn of others.
