Juuse Saros has made more saves than any other goaltender in the NHL. Nashville is still close to a playoff spot under the leadership of its Finnish guards.
The NHL’s regular season is coming to an end! will broadcast on TV2 and Areena on Saturday 8 April. two matches in a row. First at 7:25 p.m., Buffalo–Carolina, and from 10:25 p.m., Dallas and Vegas face off.
Finnish goalkeeper of the NHL Juuse Saros excels in goalie advanced stats for the entire series.
Moneypuck measures the number of goals saved by goalkeepers. Saros is the NHL’s number one in statistics, as he has saved 43.4 goals more than expected this season.
After playing 60 minutes, he has thus saved 0.718 goals more than the expected goals.
Only Boston’s per hour played Linus Ullmark (0.894) and Jeremy Swayman (0.758) are ahead of Saros among goalkeepers who played regularly.
Saros was again in top form the night before Friday Finnish time, when he saved a scoreless game (33 saves) against Carolina. The shutout was his second of the season and the 20th of his career. Only Pekka on the slopes (60) and With Tomas Vokoun (21) is the most shutout games in Nashville club history.
Saros also made club history in January, when he also made 64 saves against Carolina. By reading, he reached third place in the NHL’s all-time saves statistics.
It’s no wonder that Nashville’s social channels were once again full of Saros hype. “Call the authorities, Juuse Saros has robbed you,” the Predators tweeted after Saros’ recent shutout against Carolina.
Nashville head coach John Hayes praised Saros for making big saves for his team again. According to Hayes, Saros found pucks despite playing with a mask and was also great on loose pucks.
According to the head coach, however, the greatest importance was the Finn’s puck-like play.
– If the team doesn’t have a goalie who can play with the puck, you often run into problems. Playing on the puck is part of his game and he has worked really hard for it in the last few years. Nowadays, I think it’s a big factor in his game and this time it was definitely highlighted.
Nashville has been able to enjoy Finnish know-how, because in addition to Saros Kevin Lankinen has saved the team with a goal. Nashville center forward Mark Jankowski praised the Finnish guards profusely.
– Both have been incredible this season. Lankinen in the last game and Saros tonight, the whole season has been like this. We know that either one gives us a great chance to win. “They’ve been standing on their heads all season,” Jankowski said.
The points from Carolina were important, as Nashville moved within a point of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The team still has four matches left.
– We just have to stay in the moment and play one set at a time. In a way, this is how we have kept our team in the playoff race. We can’t overthink things. We just have to do our thing and believe that it’s enough, Saros talked.
