The Finnish couple skating in the February European Championships in February believes they have developed one more step just before the World Cup.
– Our national team is probably stronger than ever. We have two strong pairs and we go to Boston our goal to do really well.
Ice dance Olympic coach Maurizio Margaglion According to Finns, Finns do not bow to pictures of the current World Cup in the United States.
Especially the number one pair of Finland Juulia Turkkila and Matthias Versluis has been in a convincing bet. This season, the duo has captured the Finnish Championship and finished fourth in the European Championships in early February.
Development from a record
After the European Championships, Turkkila and Versluis won the Winter Olympics Test Competition in Milan and then trained for a week in Rome.
-It seems that now the training has been made from the European Championships. A week in Rome with the choreographer was really good and gave a lot of snacks, new thoughts and feelings for the World Cup, says Juulia Turkkila.
– We think we have gone one more step forward. Hopefully it carries in the World Cup and we will be able to show what has evolved this month, says Versluis.
The Finnish couple has been ninth in the World Championships at their best and achieved the European bronze medal during the same season. The goal is to get to the top of the world.
– Of course we are starting to pursue it. Focusing is in your own performance because you can influence it yourself, and through that good investments come, Turkkila says.
– At least we won’t be afraid there. Yes, we are going to challenge everyone, ”says Versluis.
The podium of the prize
According to Maurizio Margaglio, the Finnish couple has very strong programs in both rhythm and free dance.
– If they skate really well, they are definitely really close to their record. However, it is not important, the most important thing is to do well and get a ranking place for the Olympic Games.
Margaglio believes that Turkkila and Versluis are among the couples who have access to the World Cup prize podium.
– If it does not happen in these races, it sometimes happens. They are such a good couple that they will achieve it. They are definitely at the top of the world.
Finland’s second pair in the World Cup is Yuka orihara–Juho Pirinen. They were seventh at the February European Championship.
– They too are exceptional. The audience especially loves them. They too can reach very high in the future.
