Now Alvar Myhlback comes with a new promise for this year’s race.

Expectations have been high for the Swedish thunder talent Alvar Myhlback In recent years. The teenager is predicted to have a bright future in cross-country skiing and everyone is just waiting for him to take full strides in his senior career.
Myhlback’s success
Already last year, Myhlback was a big success at the Vasaloppet when he was given a dispensation to compete as a 16-year-old. Then he made history right away by coming in a very impressive eighth place.
– You shouldn’t be able to be that good close to being 16 years old in nine miles. It is inhumanly good, said the lyrical SVT expert Mathias Fredriksson then.

A year later, Myhlback is even better and has already made his debut at the World Cup. Recently, Alvar also won a superior JVM 10km gold as he swept the course with the two year older competitors.
Elves with promise
Now it’s time for the Vasaloppet again and then Alvar Myhlback sticks his chin out with a cocky promise.
– I wouldn’t say that there is any pressure, but I know that my level this year is higher as long as I get everything done. Then I think I can be up there. Then “Vasan” is a very special race and the goal I think everyone in the team has is for someone to win. Then that’s what we work for. Then one’s own performance becomes a bit secondary then, says the 17-year-old to SVT.

The super talent in cross-country skiing aims to be even better than his eighth place last year.

Alvar Myhlback also has four years to write mighty sporting history in the Vasaloppet as the youngest winner of all time. Current record holder is Ernst Alm who was 22 years old when he won the very first edition of the classic competition in 1922.
