In the Football Premier League, Sunday’s most talked about situation was seen in Liverpool’s otherwise dramatic win over Tottenham.
Liverpool took a 3–0 lead in a dramatic Premier League match on Sunday, Tottenham equalized in 90+3 by Richarlison on the finish line. Right after, however, another hit Diogo Jotaso points for Liverpool with a 4–3 win.
The head coach known as Liverpool’s colorful personality Jurgen Klopp rushed to celebrate the winning goal right in front of the fourth official’s face. In the same situation, the German coach seemed to injure his hamstring. The videos spreading about the situation have been widely amused.
Klopp was furious with Tottenham’s free kick which led to a 3-3 equaliser. He got a yellow card for his provocative venting From Paul Tierney.
Klopp has his history with Tierney. 2021 Klopp had told Tierney, even then after the Tottenham game, that “he has no problem with referees, except you”.
After this year’s Brentford game, Klopp would have liked to speak to Tierney and other referees. At the time, Klopp stated that “it’s like talking to a microwave oven, because there is no answer”.
– I really don’t know what he has against us. He says he doesn’t have a problem with us, but that can’t be true, Klopp uploaded now For Sky Sports (switching to another service).
Klopp admitted the yellow card he received was correct but continued his accusations.
– The way he looks at me, I don’t understand. In England, no one has to clarify these situations, it’s really awkward.
– What he said when he gave me the warning was not ok, Klopp continued without saying more.
The English referees’ organization PGMOL has denied Klopp’s claims. PGMOL pointed out that all communication of judges is recorded through their communication devices.
“Having reviewed everything Tierney said during today’s match, we can confirm that he acted professionally throughout, including when warning the Liverpool manager,” PGMOL said According to the BBC (you will switch to another service).
– I didn’t say anything bad (to the fourth referee), I just looked, it was also bad behavior. The hamstring or whatever muscle failed, it was quite fair.
It is not known whether Klopp will face consequences for his words. Also Tottenham’s interim head coach Ryan Mason it got hot, because in his opinion Jota should have been sent off in the 81st minute.
BBC expert Alan Shearer said that Jota and Klopp should both be happy when Tierney only gave them a yellow in the match.
