Juliette Binoche and Claire Denis, the love of cinema

Juliette Binoche and Claire Denis the love of cinema

The director Claire Denis adapts Christine Angot’s novel “The Turning Point” for the screen. A drama built around a love triangle, carried by Juliette Binoche, Vincent Lindon and Grégoire Colin. A film rewarded at the last Berlin International Film Festival.

On the film poster, a man and a woman are in profile. Vincent Lindon looks away. At his side Juliette Binoche, who tenderly puts a hand in his hair, and the other on his shoulder. A couple who love each other, no doubt about it. And then there is the title, which immediately suggests that everything may not be so simple: “With love and determination”.

In fact, the film will increase in power, until a scene of a memorable dramatic intensity, acme of a suffocating quasi-camera. “With love and determination”, the new film by Claire Denis with Juliette Binoche and Vincent Lindon, received the Silver Bear for best direction at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.

“With love and relentlessness” by Claire Denis will be released tomorrow, Wednesday August 31 on French screens.

Reportage : Lilia Blaise went to see “Flagranti”, a Tunisian play which deals with a taboo subject: homosexuality and its criminalization. In the Tunisian penal code, article 230 punishes the relationship between consenting adults with three years in prison, while the Tunisian constitution guarantees individual freedoms. Added to this repressive context are the taboos of a conservative society. Since the 2011 revolution, civil society has been openly fighting for LGBTQ rights and an end to the criminalization of homosexuality.
