Julian Assange landed on the island of Saipan freedom

Julian Assange, the founder of the WikiLeaks disclosure website, has arrived on the Pacific island of Saipan.

Australian founder of the WikiLeaks disclosure website Julian Assange has arrived on the US island of Saipan in the Pacific Ocean. His flight landed on Tuesday evening a little before 12:30 Finnish time.

Assange was released from prison in Great Britain on Tuesday morning. The U.S. Department of Justice has approved a plea deal that will see him sentenced to five years in prison. Assange, on the other hand, confesses that he is guilty of violating the US Espionage Act.

The trial of the case is scheduled to begin on the island of Saipan at 2 am Finnish time. The judge there is to state that Assange has already served his prison sentence in Britain and is now a free man.

The US Department of Justice agreed to hold the hearing on a remote Pacific island because Assange did not want to travel to the US mainland. Saipan is also close to Australia, where Assange will return after his release.
