Julia Malye desperate housewives in 18th century Louisiana

Julia Malye signs with “Louisiana”, the fascinating but dramatic historical story of three 18th century women who cross the Atlantic to marry French settlers living in Louisiana. A feminist novel about forgotten destinies.

Julia Malye published her first novel at the age of 16. It was already a historical story. And here is another, his 4th novel which makes us experience the destiny of women whom destiny has transformed into heroines of ordinary life: Charlotte, Geneviève, and Pétronille.

In 1720, they crossed the Atlantic to marry French settlers who were not always very friendly, and found themselves in a hostile and unknown country: Louisiana, where the Native American populations also saw the first black slaves arrive on the plantations.

Three women whose friendship was forged during the crossing, but who are not free either: there is their birth and their past childhood, there is the administration, there is the Church, there to their husbands, there are social conventions too….

Should we live with it and resign ourselves, can we break down the walls and free ourselves from them? It is a story of great romantic breath, a sort of “ Desperate Housewives » in 18th century Louisiana that our guest delivers to us. Much less funny, and even much more dramatic.
