Finland unexpectedly lost to Austria in the World Hockey Championships. Austria struck a shock winner just two-tenths of a second before the end of the game Benjamin Baumgartner on the finish line.
Austria came back two goals behind and finally won the match 3–2. The loss is one of the Lions’ biggest surprise defeats in the World Cup.,

The offensive game was anemic
According to Jalonen, the coaching staff will look at the game again and think about how they can help the players. He regrets that, for example, he should have struck for superiority at the end of the final set.
– Today we should have scored from places. We did not do. It often happens that when you don’t do it yourself, someone else does.
– Defensive mistakes were also made at the end. Shots should be blocked more often. This is sport. Sometimes this way.
Finland was still strong in the opening set, but the latter two were difficult.
– The offensive game was anemic. Didn’t stay on the puck very well. We didn’t give the opponent a lot of chances, but staying on the puck was worse than it usually has been, Jalonen analyzed.
Granlund acknowledged the situation
Finland’s number one chain has become the biggest topic of conversation at the games. Granlundin and Valtteri Puustisen it has been tried alongside Jere Innalaa, Juha Jääskää and From Konsta Heleniusbut the game has not gone as expected.
– Innala was cheerful today, yes, that chain created a level playing field in a few places. In the future, we have to think about whether we will go with those or whether we will make changes, Jalonen said, but did not want to evaluate the extracts of the first chain any more.
Granlund, the captain of the lions, has grabbed four assist points in the games so far. He described that all the players in the first chain are definitely capable of playing better.

When Granlund was asked about possible frustration, he answered with tongue in cheek.
– We can all do better jobs, including myself for sure. We’ll see how things progress from here.
Granlund thought that success in scoring could free up the chain to play.
– Surely a goal could make it easier for everyone to play. This is hockey. You have to do the work and believe in doing it. It’s not that strange.
“Can’t find common ground”
Jalonen reacted to the first chain grabs at the end of the game when he moved Granlund Oliver Kapanen and Jesse Puljujärvi alongside. Puustinen didn’t have time to go on the ice after this before Finland got the upper hand.
– Of course it’s sad. I also had a seam with superiority and anyway a few places to score the lead myself. The guy then did it at the last second, Puustinen said.
Puustinen admitted that the number one chain has not yet found a common note.
– Hasn’t yet started rolling in the same way as others. Something is ticking. The only help is to keep trying, Puustinen said.
Puustinen thought that the players in the chain must have a meeting together, watch the exchanges and learn to recognize the movements of the chain friends.
– It feels like we are far from each other, and we can’t seem to find common ground. Let’s see how to proceed.
