The judo events at the Olympic Games will take place from July 27 to August 3. Discover the full schedule.
Judo has been one of the flagship sports of the Olympic Games for several editions. Present since the Tokyo Games in 1964, judo has distributed 15 gold medals at each Olympiad: 7 for women, 7 for men and a mixed team event since the Tokyo Games. As the national sport in Japan, it is the Land of the Rising Sun that historically dominates the medal table at the Olympic Games, ahead of France and South Korea.
For the French team, judo should be an opportunity to see an increase in the collection of medals. Best judoka in history, Teddy Riner could become the most medalist in history if he wins a sixth medal. In the other medal chances, Clarisse Agbegnenou hopes to retain her title in the under 63 kilos category. The Federation aims to fight for medals in all categories. In total, judo could bring up to ten medals to France.
