Judgment against the Gottsunda network today – the leader risks a long sentence

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

During the summer of 2021, a man in his 40s was arrested in Spain after the police suspected for a long time that he is the leader of the so-called Gottsunda network. Prior to that, several people had been detained on suspicion of involvement in extensive drug smuggling – and the number of suspects continued to increase until a total of 17 people were charged.

Today comes the verdict against the Gottsunda network, which is classified by the police as one of Sweden’s five largest.

– They have known each other for a long time and compared to other networks, they have – yet – not cut any ties of loyalty to each other, nor do they – as far as we know – use minors, says Jale Poljarevius, head of intelligence in Region Mitt.

“Extremely enterprising”

Jale Poljarevius has for many years worked with gang operations in Uppsala and has then for a long time followed the man in his 40s who is singled out as a leader in the network. He, and the co-defendants, deny all the charges.

– This is a person who is extremely enterprising and who could have become a very successful businessman, says Jale Poljarevius.

What would a possible conviction mean for the police?

– It doesn’t mean very much. They will find their own replacements, the reserve team players, who will step onto the field or new players will come in and take their market.

In the clip above, Jale Poljarevius develops his view of the Gottsunda network.
