It was previously announced that Transdev, the company behind Connexxion, will provide public transport in the city of Utrecht and the surrounding area for ten years from the end of 2025. Keolis, the company behind Syntus, remains the carrier in the east and west of the province, including the city of Amersfoort.
In June, these companies won the so-called public transport concession worth 200 million euros per year. This gives them the exclusive right to provide public transport in an area.
Although Qbuzz, known for its U-OV buses and trams, will soon disappear, this difference in the street scene will not be noticed quickly. For reasons of recognisability, all public transport in the province will operate under the name U-OV. Syntus buses will also run under that name.
