Trump told reporters at a press conference on Friday that he would testify at the trial.
– I will testify. I tell the truth, I mean, all I can do is tell the truth. And the truth is that there is no story, he said.
The so-called racketeering criminal trial is scheduled to begin with a jury assembly on Monday, April 15 in New York.
It is the first time a president has been charged in a criminal trial in the United States. The incident is related to Stephanie Clifford to the so-called cheating money paid during the 2016 presidential election. Clifford is also known by the name he uses as a porn actress Stormy Daniels.
Trump is alleged to have committed numerous accounting crimes while hiding the payments. The payment for silence itself may also be considered a crime, as the accounting crime charges relate to the cover-up of illegal activity related to the 2016 election.
