Juanjo Isern We need the FCF to recover its prestige

Juanjo Isern has started the race for the presidency of the Catalan Football Federation (FCF). The former president of Europa and former vice president of the FCF presented this Wednesday afternoon at the Col·legi d’Enginyers Tècnics Industrials the bases of his candidacy and hopes to be the great winner of the elections that will be held on May 22. “We want the clubs to come to the forefront, to be protagonists. We need the Federation to recover its prestige, it has hit rock bottom and we are trying to make a change with specialists in each subject, with experience. We have created an orchestra of great specialists, there is no one inferior to me. Each one has been chosen because he is the best in his field. And I have the honor of directing an orchestra that will mark a paradigm shift in Catalan, Spanish, European and world sports”, explained an ambitious and excited Isern.

Isern, who defines his project for the FCF as transversal and transformative, had no problem commenting that “it is a candidacy made with enthusiasm, passion and that has enough tools to give the sport the level that it does not have right now. It is the best program that can exist in Catalonia at the football levell”. Surrounded by a team made up of Iolanda Latorre, Pilar Puig, Ingrid Sicília, Joan Manuel Carreras, Frederic Adan, Isabel Tarragó, Francesc Folguera and Joana Ortega, Isern said that the “FCF must be a country structure. Our project is football and clubs“. In addition, another of his strengths and on which he emphasized is that “none of us will charge. The president of presidents cannot profit because if they do not get paid, neither can we“.

Lastly, Isern, who is running alongside Álex Talavera as one of the main favorites to preside over the FCF, warned that “the importance that women’s and territorial football deserves” will be given. And as for the matches of the Catalan team, “There will be no more ‘costellades’ (friendly matches). Either play official matches or for solidarity causes”. The last time the ‘Selecció’ competed was in 2019, at the Montilivi stadium, against Venezuela and won 2-1 with goals from Bojan Krkic and Javi Puado.
