The English football referees’ organization PGMOL is dismayed by the threatening behavior towards British referee Anthony Taylor and his family after the Europa League final.

The referees of the European Football League final on Wednesday night Anthony Taylor after the final match, the head coach of AS Roma had to Jose Mourinho’s subject to harsh verbal feedback.

The decision of the video referee, or VAR, seen in the match also left Sevilla Fernando’s the centering ball that hit the hand in the penalty area without looking at it for a longer time aroused particularly bitter reactions from the Roman supporters. The reason for not handling the situation was given to the on-field referee Taylor.

For Mourinho, the final defeat was the first on the Euro courts.

– This is bloody shameful, Mourinho said to Taylor in the parking garage.

The criticism of Taylor continued at the airport. The video shows how the crowd of AS Roma fans booed and some threw liquid on Taylor and his family. Taylor’s young child appears to be terrified in the video.

“We are dismayed”

The English referee organization PGMOL has intervened in the situation.

PGMOL condemns the behavior towards Taylor, reported by, among others, the BBC.

– We have seen the videos that spread on social media when Taylor and his family are harassed at the Budapest airport. We are appalled by the unwarranted and disgusting behavior towards them when he was at the airport on his way home after the final. We give our full support to Anthony and his family.

The European Football Association is currently waiting for reports from the match officials regarding Mourinho’s behavior after the match.

The Premier League has also reacted to the situation. The Premier League considers the behavior towards Taylor appalling.

– No one should have to experience such behavior. Anthony is one of our most experienced and successful judges. We fully support Anthony and his family.
