Jörgen Stenberg was out checking on the reindeer, when his colleagues discovered an unwelcome guest among the reindeer – a full-grown bear. They managed to scare the animal away from the reindeer, but then the bear instead went straight towards Jörgen. – I stood in his way with meaning so that he would not come to the reindeer. It approached him quickly, but he stood his ground: – It is a respectful animal, but for me there was no danger because I had the scooter. So he started to growl and throttle the scooter, so that the bear would perceive him. The noise managed to scare the bear away. “Problematic” Jörgen and other reindeer herders feel that encounters with bears are becoming more and more common, something that can create major problems: – It’s happening more and more often, which is problematic.
