For the third day in a row, Russia carried out massive airstrikes against Ukraine.
– The latest attack is unique considering that at least 60 cruise robots and ten to twelve Kinzjal robots were used. Kinzjal robots are advanced hypersonic robots that have previously only been used to a limited extent against targets in Ukraine.
Escalation
In recent days, there has been an escalation of robot and drone attacks, which began on December 29.
– The attack on December 29 from the Russian side was the biggest since the attack on Ukraine began. According to my assessment, it was a response to the sinking of the landing ship Novocherkask on December 26, says former lieutenant colonel Jörgen Elfving.
This followed an attack on the Russian city of Belgorod on 30 December. An attack that Russian President Vladimir Putin called an “act of terrorism”.
– No crimes against civilians will go unpunished, that is one thing that is certain, said the Russian president according to AFP.
– This is probably what we are seeing now, that Russia is paying back for the attack on Belgorod. According to the Russian opinion, it should sting the Ukrainian skin, says Jörgen Elfving
“Went out a lot”
The question now is whether Russia can continue to attack with the same intensity.
– Obviously, a lot of the Russian stock of cruise robots and Kinzjal robots has been consumed. How it affects continued attacks remains to be seen.
