Joonas Rinnee’s wild SE bet was just a foretaste – today may be an even wilder time | Sport

Javelin athlete Eemil Porvari dazzled with his throw of over

Joonas Rinne is trying to improve his recent SE time in Kuortane. Eemil Porvari can answer for a big surprise in the javelin.

The Kuortane Games, a traditional Midsummer competition in athletics, will be broadcast live on Saturday at Areena at 3:45 p.m. and on TV1 at 6:15 p.m.

The athletics GP series continues today with the competition in Kuortanee. Urheilu makes an expert Jaakko Ojaniemi with three withdrawals from the midsummer competition.

Men’s 1,500 meters

Joonas Rinne encouraged Paavo Nurme on Tuesday by pushing at the end Pekka Vasalan the ancient 1,500 meter Finnish record to pieces. Now the Finnish record for the trip is recorded as 3:35.20.

Vasala ran 3:36.33 in his 1972 Olympic gold race.

Rinne will have the opportunity to improve his SE time already on Saturday in Kuortane. The man from Saarijärvi’s Pullistus finished eighth in the Turku race.

Race winner, Ireland Cathal Doyle is also on the line in Kuortane. Also included are Kenya, who ran 3:36.27 this season Charles Simotwo and Sweden, who ran 3:34.16 at their best Emil Danielsson.

Ojaniemi believes that there is full potential for improving Finland’s record. Tactically, Rinne’s record run was not the best possible.

– Of course, recovery is about that, because the competitions are close together. In my opinion, there was not an optimal speed distribution in that SE run. Although it suits Joonas that the end comes strong, there seemed to be too many bangs left for the last round.

– I believe that with a more even distribution of speed, you can take a second off. I don’t see that there was a button run in Turku.

Rinneelle Kuortanene’s run is important when thinking about the Olympics. He can improve his positions in the rankings with good results and ranking points.

At the moment, Rinne is in sixth place, when 45 athletes qualify for Paris. He did not make it to the European Championships. At Tonivitose, the level is very high internationally.

– Paris is not a place without things to do. A capped profit at a good time can lift stocks. If he could somehow build a good speed run for the Kaleva Games, there might be a good chance for an Olympic place.

Men’s stick

No one was injured in the women’s singles Wilma Murtoa and fourth place in the European Championships Elina Lampelaa.

According to Ojaniemi, you should watch the men’s pole vault in Kuortane with great interest.

The entire domestic best is included. Urho Kujanpää is currently on his way to Paris.

A fascinating name is also a 20-year-old top talent Juho Alasaari. Last summer, he made Espoo a surprise champion in the under-23 European Championships.

– It can be a good race if there happens to be good conditions, Ojaniemi states.

Men’s spear

Ojaniemi reminds that Kuortane lacked several top domestic athletes. The European Championships and Paavo Nurmi’s competitions were recently. Already in a week, the Kaleva Games medals will be fought for in Vaasa.

The European Championship bronze medalists are missing from the men’s javelin Oliver HelanderEC six Lassi Etelätalo and in Turku, the 84-meter spear archer Toni Keränen.

Among the international peaks there are Grenada Anderson Petersof Trinidad & Tobago Keshorn Walcott and Kenya Julius Yego. Peters is a two-time world champion, Walcott an Olympic winner and Yegok a World Cup winner.

The expert follows with interest what other Finns are doing. There is a thrower on his home field Toni Kuusela and a 21-year-old who reached the 80-meter club at the Lahti GP Eemil Porvari.

– The challengers now have a good place to hit screens on the table. Teemu Narvik too threw 82 meters in the beginning of the season. It will be interesting to see if young Porvari can challenge Peters, Yego and Walcott. I believe you can. Kuortane has always thrown well, Ojaniemi reminds.
