Jonna Sundling’s unexpected words that are sure to arouse strong reactions in the skiing world: “I actually think so”

New ski season awaits and Jonna Sundling is ready.
Although there will be some championship for the golden hero this season.
– I will compete as much as my body can handle, she now admits to SportExpressen.

The ski season is fast approaching and the Swedish national ski team is training hard so that the cross-country skiers will be as ready as possible for the new winter. But it will of course be different as there is no big championship next season.

Sundling’s gold

Instead, the focus will be “only” on the World Cup and many people’s favorite Tour de Ski during the winter months. For Jonna Sundling it will be a completely different matter as she has really specialized as a championship skier in recent years.

In 2021 she struck with double WC gold in sprint and sprint relay, in 2022 it was Olympic gold, Olympic silver and Olympic bronze in Beijing and in 2022 again double WC gold in sprint and sprint relay. But now the Swedish gold hero still comes with words that will arouse strong reactions in the skiing world.

Jonna’s words

In contrast to the national team mate Frida Karlsson who drew a lot of criticism in Norway with her words that she considered not even competing this year, Sundling sees it in a completely different way. Unexpectedly enough, she feels that it is nice to have a break from the WC and the Olympics.
– I actually think it feels a bit fun with a break from championships. Getting to enter a little more for the Tour de Ski and the World Cup instead, she admits in an interview with SportExpressen and promises many races next season.
– Yes, I will compete as much as my body can handle.

But there is still a lot of pre-season training to get the body ready and Sundling knows how important it is, given that last year he suffered from problems in the pre-season.
– This particular period has otherwise been quite critical for me over the years. For me, it is very important to have continuity in training now, says the 28-year-old in the interview.
– I think I’m in a good phase. I have been able to train according to plan all autumn without any real interruptions. So it feels nice.
