Jonna Sundling’s shock after the difficult news – scared her partner Anton: “He was terrified”

The World Cup moves on from Ruka to Gällivare.
Several Swedes are then forced to stand over, including Jonna Sundling.
– It really sucks, she says in the podcast Vinterpasset.

It was a fantastic start to the world cup season in Ruka for the Swedish part. At least on the women’s side. In all three races for the ladies, a Swede won. Emma Rib in sprints, Ebba Andersson in 10 kilometers classic, and Moa Ilar for 20 kilometers freely.

Chaos in the national team

There were also a total of five Swedish women on the podium, with Frida Karlsson third place and Jonna Sundlings second place.
When the World Cup now moves on to Gällivare and home ground, everyone hopes that the fine trend will continue. But several interruptions in the Swedish squad may make that goal difficult.

There are several skaters in the Swedish national team who have been infected by covid, and will not be able to participate in this weekend’s competitions. Lynn Svahn, Johanna Hagström, William Poromaa and Jonna Sundling, all four have not been selected for the squad due to illness. Frida Karlsson has also tested positive, but is symptom-free and hopes to be able to start anyway.

Sundling’s shock

Sundling went with the rest of the squad from Ruka to Gällivare, but once there she woke up with a dry throat. She then took a corona test, which to her surprise was positive.
– When I saw those two lines, I was like very, very shocked. Well, because I really didn’t think I would have it. I did not understand. I could have gone out and done intervals, I felt so good. But the test showed positive and my throat was a little dry in the morning, so it was like just realizing the facts that I am sick, says Sundling in the podcast Vinterpasset, which she has together with Charlotte Kalla and Hannah and Elvira Öberg.

The 28-year-old was very surprised by his illness.
– I had been so careful. Really tried everything I could. I have not been able to do anything differently, I feel either, so it really sucks.

Jonna had to pack her bags immediately and go home to Östersund. A terrified roommate was waiting at home.
– Now when I got home, it was Anton very scared of me. When we took a walk outside, he kept a very good distance. He was terrified, but rightfully so. I also wouldn’t want to be near myself now if I was healthy, says Sundling in the podcast.
