Star bullpen Perry Olsson was fired.
Now the national skiing team is being criticized by Jonna Sundling.
– It is an uncertainty, says the star.
The announcement from the national ski team came at the end of April in a way that drew attention. Perry Olsson is Sweden’s most meritorious fencer, and last season he was personal fencer for Jonna Sundling, William Poromaa and Jens Burman.
Unexpected message
Perry Olsson himself was set on continuing, but his contract expired after the season and the head coach Anders Svanebo then informed the veteran that his contract would not be extended. When Perry Olsson joined the Swedish national ski team in 2020, it was like a prestigious acquisition, after for several years being responsible for the skis of stars such as Petter Northug and Marit Björgen in Norway.
Anders Svanebo justified his decision by saying that he “wants to make a change”, but the decision has not been well received by all riders. Now comes stinging criticism from one of the national skiing team’s biggest stars, in the form of Jonna Sundling. The sprint star, who is always at his best at championships, believes that the decision is daring given that it is the WC next year.
Sundling’s criticism
It requires trust between rider and herder, and that both know each other. Sundling is now worried about that.
– Sometimes you might flap right away, sometimes you never flap and sometimes it takes time and of course there is uncertainty, especially now that there is a WC next season, says Sundling to SVT.
Jonna Sundling believes that the change of breeder could have taken place before the past season, when there was no championship.
– Sometimes I feel, yes, a little bad timing, but now it is like that and then I have to find myself in it, she says.
