Jonna Sundling’s own words about how long she will continue competing

Jonna Sundling has just turned 30 and is at the peak of her career.
Now the cross-country star reveals how long she will continue to compete at the highest level.
– If I don’t think I can develop even more…, she says in SVT’s “Kallprat”.

She is one of Sweden’s most successful and most loved skiers on the women’s side. Jonna Sundling30, has his sights set on the WC in Trondheim in just over a month. The question is how long will she continue competing?

That’s how long Jonna wants to compete in skiing

When she visits SVT reporter Johan Kücükaslan in the channel’s winter sports talk show “Kallprat”, he shows several old video clips from when Jonna was little. Time and again she repeated the words: “As long as it’s fun”, when various journalists asked the talent how long she would continue skiing.
– You then say: “As long as I think it’s fun”. If I were to ask you now: “How long will you continue?”, what would the answer be?, he tells her.

Jonna does not seem to have decided on a concrete date or year for when she will end her successful career. There are several factors that play into the decision.
– It could be the same. I now say to myself: “I’ll keep going as long as I think it’s fun”. And as long as I feel that I have development potential. Then I want to continue, she says.

Sundling believes she has more to give

Then Kücükaslan continues to ask her what she really means by that. How can the reigning sprint world champion develop when she is already at her best? He asks for an explanation.
– What happens if you think it’s fun but you have no development potential?, he asks.
– Dude, then I can’t continue. If I don’t think I can develop even more…

She doesn’t have time to finish the sentence before the SVT profile interrupts.
– But you’re the best, aren’t you? If you are still stable at a top level, it is probably not to develop, do you feel that then you will not continue?, he says.
– But I think there are always things to develop. That is, small and big things. It depends a bit on how you look at it. I don’t think I’ll ever be a complete scholar. I hope I can last many more years, I feel like I have a few years left. I feel very motivated and it feels fun. Above all, what drives me is that I feel that I have development potential. We’ll see how long I last then, concludes Jonna Sundling.

Hopefully you will continue to compete for many more years, Jonna. There are many of us who love to see you represent Sweden and really give it your all. Keep it up!
