Not many Swedes know the small town of Tvärålund in Västerbotten.
The village’s big star recognizes the more: the seven-time World Cup gold medalist Jonna Sundling.
Now a huge shelf is planned for her at home.
No one can raw at Jonna Sundling30, when there is a sprint in cross -country skiing. For the third world championship in a row, she combed home both the sprint and the team sprint. In addition, it became a relay gold and a bronze in the skiathlon during the World Cup in Trondheim.
The hometown is planning celebration for Jonna
Jonna now has a total of seven World Cup gold, which is a Swedish record. Only Gunde Svan63, has the same number of gold medals. It is clearly worth celebrating. Sundling’s home municipality Vindeln (outside Umeå) plans to do something nice for the star. It is talked about that maybe a street should be baptized after her, or a statue is raised.
– Naming roads is reserved for people who are no longer alive. It is usually so, but we are not so used to having such successful sports personalities. We may be able to introduce a new policy. It is possible, there are major achievements, says the chairman of the municipal council’s chairman Mathias Haglund (S) to Västerbottens-Kuriren.

The most relevant thing is to look in and around the resort Tvärålund, where Jonna grew up. It does not curl new streets in neither Vindeln nor Tvärålund. It can be a ski stadium or a ski track that may bear her name.
– If there are new streets, it could be a name even if it is another board that does. You have to have some new street to baptize too, but it can just as well be in Tvärålund then. It is probably more location to do that than in the urban area. After all, she has marketed the municipality in a great way, so I am convinced that she gets some kind of awakening, says first vice chairman Tomas Nilsson (M).
The municipality wants to give something to Jonna
Former athlete Viktoria Tegenfeldt37, is now chairman of Tvärålunds IF, Jonna Sundling’s parent club. She is a former middle distance runner who competed for Umeå IFK. She also loves the idea of giving Jonna Sundling a street. It is now planned that a ski track with the associated portal should be baptized after the star at home in Tvärålund. Her gold in the World Cup has also been celebrated much of the members of the club, especially many younger ones were in place.

Tegenfeldt thinks that the municipality really has to get hold of this.
– It feels given. It is clear that it must be a street after Jonna. It’s great fun. We follow Jonna everyone here in the village and are as proud as we can become. It is cool to have such a rider from Lilla Tvärålund. Last time at the training we ran the rocket as well we had cider in the glasses and toasted for Jonna. Then she had not been able to take the other medals, says Viktoria Tegenfeldt to VK.
Congratulations to your World Cup gold medals and for your bronze, Jonna. You are absolutely incredibly good! No one in the world can raw at you.
